Faculty Position in Remote Sensing

The Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position in remote sensing of the earth with emphasis in one of the following: radiometric image analysis, hyperspectral image analysis, quantitative image analysis (e.g., atmospheric correction) or instrument development. The successful candidate would be expected to enhance and expand ongoing remote sensing research in areas of physics-based synthetic image generation, quantitative algorithms for target detection, atmospheric correction, temperature measurement, and hyperspectral scene phenomenology. The successful candidate should have interests that span the entire imaging system from phenomenology through acquisition and data analysis.

The successful candidate is expected to pursue an active research program supported by extramural funding. The research plans for the near-term should be well-formulated and be in an area that is synergistic with ongoing activities in the Center (cf. http://www.cis.rit.edu/). In addition, the successful candidate should be interested in teaching at both the undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) level. The successful candidate, in addition to teaching in their specialization area, should be prepared to offer courses in one or more of the following areas; digital image processing, optics and optical instrumentation, linear systems or radiometry.

Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement of research interests, and names and addresses of at least three references to: John Schott, Director of Digital Imaging and Remote Sensing Laboratory, Rochester Institute of Technology, Carlson Building, 54 Lomb Memorial Drive, Rochester, NY 14623-5604. Review of applications will begin early in 2002, with an appointment date as soon as possible thereafter.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. RIT is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and especially encourages application from persons able to contribute to the Institute commitment to diversity and pluralism.
